Fifties daybed repair

I have two 1950s daybeds that need repair. They are a simple open frame type with seat supports created by crossed metal wires attached to the frame by spring coils. The foam-filled cushion seat is placed directly upon this base but it isn't very comfortable. I plan to replace the foam in the seats, but I'd like advice on what else to do to make these more comfy.

Thanks,
