Not quite t.b..........the drain fitting is removed from the inside of the tub......It unscrews with aspecial tool .....see link below

If you have "cross-bars" in the drain use the tool DUMBELL.......available at homecenters everywhere.........

If the fitting is "open" you'll need the KEY available from plumbing and specialty tool stores......
