first thing to check is the lid switch.

Not sure if your model is a belt drive or direct drive

if its a direct drive, check out this link:

if its belt drive (about 15yrs old or more) do a search for "wig-wag" and you will find some links on how to check this. the links will most likely refer to whirlpool, but they make the kenmore so it will be the same
