I moved into a duplex in July and the local gas company came and turned on the gas and lit the pilot light on my stove; however, they did not light the pilot light on my furnace, and I didn't know that it had one. I was so used to living in apartments with electric heat and air. I have an Airtemp unit that was made by Chrysler, and it has a knob that I know I am supposed to turn to the pilot position to light the pilot light; however, I am not even sure where the heck I am supposed to light it. The instructions on the unit say to turn the temp all the way down and then depress the knob and light the pilot, hold the knob for 1 min. and then turn it to on...I have tried all of this, but I can't even get it to light. Does the thermostat need to be turned on to heat before it will light? Please help me...Thanks Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
