I just purchased an old farm house in Florida that was built in 1882. All the walls are made of tongue and groove heart of pine wood. The problem is that due to the house settling some of the inner walls have started to pull apart at the tongue and groove. What would be the right way to correct this? Jack the house up from underneath and shim at the support columns? The old owner has already had the outside wood replaced were it was needed which is an over lap siding (wood). I'm afraid that if I jack the house up it will put the outside out of alignment.
Also, I have some termite damage on some of the boards. On the small damage I plan to wood putty the holes but on the larger ones zI need to remove the tongue and groove and replace it. How do you get the old out and the new in?
