Your first objective is to protect the roof and all things under it. Even though the roof sheating is wet, you can apply felt and roofing. It will take a while to dry, but the water will eventually vaporize and transmit to the outside or into the rafter space. In new construction, this happens all the time and it is rare to see problems. It is important to maintain adequate ventilation on the underside of the roof. Be sure to provide for ventilation, and consider delaying installation of any insulation until the moisture has had a chance to wick out of the wood. Water vapor from evaporating moisture will transmit to the underside of the roof and through the felts. It may take several weeks to dry once the roof is on. Since this is not enclosed space, heating is impractical; however heating an enclosed space will accelerate drying.
A final note, wet sheet products are slick, take appropriate precautions against slips and falls. It is not ideal to have to roof a wet deck, but this time of year, it may be the best option to protect the completed roof deck. Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
