Paint Stripping

I'm having trouble paint stripping my kitchen cabinets. I removed the doors and applied the paint stripper as directed. Left it on for 1/2 an hour but does not leave me with a clean surface. I was wondering if I could use an electric hand sander to clean up the job. Do you think this would help. Anyone please reply
