I was looking at the Natural Gas line that comes into my furnace. It is 1/2" coming down the wall to a Tee, then into the furnace. The bottom side of the teee has a nipple with a plug attached to it. What is the reasoning for this configuration (ie - Why not simply use an elbow)?
