Metal Roof Leak

Posted by Steve in Washington on December 15th, 2003 06:48 AM

I just moved into a 4 year old home with a standing seam metal roof that extends out to a wrap-around porch area. I discovered a leak the other day next to the front entrance in the porch area. since then, the leak has traveled to over the front door. I have T&G clear cedar above and it looks like it is absorbing the water quite well :). If I push on the boards I get a nice steady stream to spill out. When it rains hard I get a nice 60" puddle on the floor next to the entrance. The roofer is no longer in the area and I've begun calling roofing contractors. So far, only one has come out and he said it would take $300 "or so" to repair. What is involved? What could be the problem? And what do I look for in the contractors?
