Attic stairs for tight spaces

I have 2 locations in my new house with attic stairs that have only 6 inches more than their own length
in which to fold down. Ceiling are 9' and the doors are 6'8". Conventional attic stairs canot unfold in this space, as they
hit the doorframes.

Does anyone know of any vendors of attic stairs that fold down with 6" of the lnegth of the ceiling opening ?

Mechanically, it wouldn't be a tough thing to design. Question is
whether any co. has actually done it.

(My builder is claiming he's going to put scuttles in because he can't find stairs to fit...)
