First off we are getting quotes from $1600 - $4000 just to do a 30x15 ceiling!!!! How can one come up with such a variance with the pricing to do the same type of work??? You are not talking about a ceiling that needs to be replaced but rather to resolve the alligator cracking problems.

We are also getting so called experts that come in and don't even want to tackle the job. Which I rather have a contractor be honest to say they don't like doing Grunge work. We are finding the contractors are lazy they just want to come in and be ready to paint. There is alot of prep work prior to painting.

As for my hubby, my dear, he is far from lazy, we have alot to tackle in this house that my M-I-L has not tackled nor care to tackle b/c of her hording frenzy. He is more than capable of doing the work. We both have a full-time job, come home, take care of our toddler, stay up working on the house until 12 am and having to go to bed to wake up at 6 am.

The perfectionist that my husband is it will probably take longer than what you have said. We do not do this for a living so yes, it will take us more time. that is why we want to have some on else come in and do the job. To alleviate the work load, if at all possible, if not we will do the work ourselves.

It is bad enough we are consumed by this house, eat, live and breathe our every thought of fixing up this house. It is all about time!

By the way I SEE YOU have ALOT OF TIME ON YOUR HANDS - YOU DO enough POSTS, why don't we hire you. hehehhe!! WE will put you to work, and use your constructive talents!!
