Bought the machine from Sears 7/1/00 was told top of the line! Should be I spent $1200!!! Sunday I went to do laundry and guess what....machine won't spin. I contacted MayTag who gave me a few authorized repair numbers to call. The MayTag service center wants $119.00 for the service call and after I told them what the problem was they called to tell me the part is backordered for 15 business days. I called back and asked how did they know that the control board was gone and how much was that going to cost, they indicated $169.00. It then dawned on me that it must be a problem if the part is backordered. I went to the web and found numerous issues. I contacted MayTag and they agreed to give me the part at 50%. That was not good enough for me I then called MayTag Corporate and I am going to receive the part for free. However, the glitch is that this is a one time deal for me. Point of the story is Purchase the Extended Warranty!!!! I guess the MayTag repairman isn't lonely after all! Especially with parts that are backordered. MayTag refuses to admit to a problem! NEVER EVER PURCHASE FROM THEM!!! As a matter of fact join the class action lawsuit!
