bad circuit breaker ?

Here's a puzzler -- my wife was vac'ing today,
when suddenly it died. she tried it in another
outlet and it was ok. checked the breakers on
the 1st circuit, and they were all ok too.
i tested the voltage at each breaker, and
got a full 110 volts on each one.
so what else could be bad, the wiring ?
i'd appreciate any tips on things to check.
