OK, let's try this... Posted by Jason on December 22nd, 2003 06:28 PM In reply to reply to Jason by William on December 22nd, 2003 05:30 PM [Go to top of thread]
Greetings again,
First Can you remove the inside door casing without too much trouble? This will show you how much room you have to square the door.
You might be able to just shift the top of the door over twords the operating jamb to square the door.(This would be the easyest way to do it if the door was not secured through a nailing fin.)
If you remove the stop on the fixed panel, you should be able to slide the fixed panel away from the jamb to get at the screws. Back off the screws that are at the top of the jamb on the fixed side and tighten the screws on the top of the operating side. (Make sure you remove any screws that go through the top track.)
If it is secured through a nailing fin you will have to remove part of the outside casing to remove the nails.
This is the short version and with any luck, this will do it. If not, you will have to re-install the whole door.
Good luck,
Jason
Ps. Just for a reference, I grew up in the windows, doors, & siding buisiness and installed my last 6' slider three weeks ago. Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
