When I replaced the tiles, I noticed a lot of water and moisture in the wall. Took off all the drywall, and replaced it with waterproof sheets. They are available at your lumber yard, ot check with the people selling the tile. For all the work to be done replacing the waterproof sheets is not too much work,and you may never have the same problem again.
