upstairs floor repair noise Posted by Jim Nanko on December 27th, 2003 01:40 AM In reply to repair subfloor by tomh on March 30th, 2003 09:40 PM [Go to top of thread]
We own a home built in 1976 which after many years of wear and tear, every single sound and movement upstairs can be heard from every room downstairs. Even the smallest of creaks, sounds like an earthquake downstairs under those rooms.
The floor squeaks, creaks, and is driving us crazy day and night.
What do we have to do to repair the upstairs floor to make it sound proof and stop the squeaks, etc.?
Honestly, it sounds as if the person walking around upstiars is pounding their feet on the floor even when trying to be as quiet as possible for both upstairs and especially downstairs.
Please, help us! We can't take it much longer as these rooms both up and down are where we spend the majority of our time.
How can we repair this?
HELP!!!
