Shower door part Posted by Lil Younger on December 28th, 2003 12:13 PM In reply to shower door parts by Doyle VonLehmden on June 9th, 2003 10:20 AM [Go to top of thread]
Unfortunately, I hired a bad contractor to remodel my bathroom. One phase of the work included replacing the shower door.
After waiting through the recommended "drying" period, the shower was christened. To my dismay, the bathroom floor had a large and unacceptable amount of water on it. Upon inspecting the door itself, it only made sense that the inside, bottom gutter rail (for lack of the proper term) appeared to be installed upside down plus it measured completely level preventing a run-off back into the shower even if the trough/gutter performed as a catcher/diverter. This caused the water running off the inside of the glass door to run over the round ledge and flood the floor. The pervious shower door had this piece installed so that it actually caught the water and diverted it back onto the shower floor.
This particular "gutter" cannot be turned over and cannot be mounted at any other obvious point on this door in order to do its job.
I have checked with Home Depot, Lowes, etc., and this particular part cannot be purchased separately for any shower door. One must buy the entire door with its mounting frame, etc. A considerable amount of money for what appears to be a simple and inexpensive repair/replacement part. The glass is imprinted with the manufacturer, "Guardian." When visiting their site, it was made clear they do not do the frame, only the glass itself, providing to their frame customers.
Can you help me???? Was this post helpful? Yes: or No:
