Bryant Furnace 1980ish....

our bryant furnace has been working great...then all of the sudden, the burners stop lighting. the pilot is working, the fan is working, but it wont light....now mind you this doesnt happen all the time, just seems to be about 75% of the time, the rest of the time, it works like a charm!
could it be the ignighter? or the thermostat? (hubby says no, cuz the fan kicks in to go)
