They make several fiberglass repair kits (bondo will work. For the patch over the hole, cut out a peice of cardboard that will just go into the hole (make it oblong and as tight a fit as possible)...punch a small hall in the center and push a string through and tie a knot on the back side (this will give the backing needed for the patch) keep tension on the string as you fill the hole...I don't recall the cure time for bondo but I think its short.
