This thread has a life of it's own, doesn't it?

Vertical vinyl siding tends to look like board and batten. Vytek has/had a product. I purchased some on ebay that was (apparently) a canceled order. As it was being loaded, the seller told me that he was initially charged the normal factory price of $57 per square. Normal wholesaler markup is easily 2 to 2 1/2 times, so getting 31 square for about a grand was a good deal.

I really like the almond color.

However...

It's ten foot tall and I will trim about 1 1/2 foot off of each. I need 18 sq to cover 15 sq of building. Doubt I will use much of the scrap, and am NOT going to splice it in. Yechh.

My house will resemble a pole barn. Remember, the strong vertical elements are usually found on commercial buildings.

There are references and guides to installing vertical siding. Just don't expect your "I know how to install siding" friends to be an asset. They may actually be a liability, since J-Channel is used at the bottom of the siding to hold it, and it MUST be drilled with weep holes to allow moisture to drain.

All I got was J-Channel and was told that's all I needed. I think it's possible, but your siding friends may be disoriented with vertical siding.

As to finding information, has anyone searched on "vertical vinyl siding"? I got tons of results. Seems that soffit is a kissing cousin to vertical siding, and soffit can be used as vertical siding.
