Oak Kitchen Table

We recently bought an amish oak kitchen table set.
The gentleman that sold it to us said it had a Sherman Williams finish on it and that water marks will not damage the finish. My question is,do I have to polish it every once in a while? or what type of stuff do I use to maintain it's beautiful finish? The table was built in Pennsylvania. I've waited a long time for this set and I don't want to mess it up with stuff I don't need to do to it. Thank you
