Two years later, I am hoping that you found a solution to your bookcase problem. I am looking to do something similar and am concerned about racking, ease of opening, latching, etc. and wanted to see how your project came out. Well I hope.
Did you end up using pivots, hinges, slides? If you don't mind I can use any advice that you can offer or links to plans or sites.
