Most of your concerns about heating and cooling are not as big a deal as things doug eluded to, floor and roof loading issues.

For instance, if you have knee walls in the attic, you probably need to leave them in place. In most dwellings, those knee walls support the roof.

Also, if you have 2x4 ceiling joists, those are not adequate to support a floor, bed, and you reading a bedtime story to your daughter.

For the simpler stuff, you'll need to install a heat run in front of the egress window, and a cold air return on the other side of the room, near the stairs. Cold air tends to sink really hard, so give full consideration to heat dynamics. Attics tend to be too cold.

Another consideration is adequate venting of the roof used in concert with insulating.
