oil stain on granite

Found an oil spot on the new counter tops this morning. Put a baking soda/water mixture on the stain and allowed it to dry. This appears to have worked and did not harm the surface. If the stain persists I'll give the following method a try.

I also found this tidbit and will try if the oil stain persists

"I picked up this solution which worked great! Mix one cup of unbleached flour with three tablespoons of Blue Dawn dishwashing liquid (it has grease cutting ability) and water. Add water to consistency of yogurt. Apply as poultic to countertop approximately 1/4 inch. Cover with plastic wrap and allow to sit overnight or longer. Wash off poultic. This removed a large oil stain on a new countertop."
