Here's another one. We're doing a kind of retro redo of our eat in kitchen. I'm not though, getting rid of the wood, (no painted cabinets etc...), although I'd like to paint the top surface of my dining table black. It's an old Duncan Phife I got at an antique junk shop, (Sanford and Sons), and I'm attached! I want some suggestions on what to seal it with that will be okay if you don't use placemats or coasters. The finish on it is just the old varnish and I found after X-Mas there are the white rings that come form dampness. So after it's sanded, primed and painted, what would be the most waterproof finishing?
