Charlie, you are right that many are against wood floors in a bathroom, including me. But if you really want to do it right, I'm sure that it is possible. Since you will be asking the wood to be around water and subject to both changes in moisture conditions and to direct attacks on the surface, your best bet would be to look at what the people with wood boats do to protect their investments in wood.

The place that I would start looking would be with a finishing resin type epoxy. Personally, I would probably go with a true epoxy but you might also look at polyesther resin since it's about a quarter the cost. You might also look at marine spar varnishes. I do think that it would be a disservice to you to come up with the name of one product and say that it's the right one for your situation. Your computer is a great tool to use in doing your homework and there is a lot more, as far as hard numbers, to consider than could easily be presented here. There is also no reason why you cannot contact the manufacturers for their comments and opinions. That way you have a contact if you have a problem later also.
