When we place metal over a asphalt roof we run 1x4 strips at the proper spacing for the gauge steel we are using ,generaly 2' O.C. for 29 ga. This will allow the screws to seat properly on the metal, and you wont have as much chance of missing the roof boards below the shingels.Not that difficult of a job but be carefull and tie off whenever you can.
