chair rail with vaulted ceiling

I am installing a chair rail in my living room/dining room area that has a vaulted ceiling. Can anyone give me some advice as to what height I should use? (I plan on painting the top part of the wall and the vaulted portion of the ceiling all the same color while using a darker color below the rail.)
