I once stayed in a hotel that was located right in the flight path for Charles DeGaull Airport near Paris. They used 2 layers of thermopane glass spaced about 10 inches apart in the wall. It was amazing, you could hardly hear the aircraft, even the Concord taking off was not loud at all. Of course the rest of the walls were concrete block which also helped.
So, special windows will probably help, but if the rest of the house is built with minimal materials, the amount of improvement may not be all that great.
Good Luck!
