cutter head broke off in sewer line running from house to main.

I was using a 5/8" snake and it got caught up in the roots i assume and I could not get it out I ended up twisting the head off and now I have that to deal with along with the my main pipe being stoped up. Do you have any suggestion about how I can get this out without digging up the pipe, I was going to rent a 1" snake and try and force it completely through the drain because I am pretty sure it is stuck right about 4 foot before reaching the main. Would greatly appericate you advice.
