the repair is done from the top, from the roof

so you know where is come into attck, now get on roof with a can of roofing cement also called roof flashing, you need a cheap plastic spatula you can throw away(clean up metal tools with wd-40 and a rag)

anyways get up there with your flashing and application tool, find your crack and smear this new flashing cement over the area, nicely smooth it in to the edges, you may only need a handfull size dab

if the crack is large you may want to use some roofing fiberglas tape in addition to the flashing cement and this would be cut to size with razor in the form of a patch and apply over the stuff we just smeared on as stated above and simply smear yet another coat of the flashing cement of top,

to sort of sandwitch the tape between 2 layers of flashing cement

the hard part on roofing repairs is finding the leak, you have already found it so now you just have to smear this stuff on there

working on roofs is danger so be careful, dont fool around up there. get up there, do you deed and get down, follow all basic ladder and roof safety rules, usually found in the form of a sticker on side of ladder
