bamboo gone wild

I have a stand of bamboo that is about 5 feet wide by 150 feet. It is breaking up my brick patio and has invaded my neighbor's swimming pool. I have tried various plant killers and even tried to alter the pH by pouring vingegar on it to no avail. A friend suggested swimming pool acid? Does anyone have any suggestions. I have been quoted $20,000 - $30,000 to remove the bamboo but would like to find a cheaper method.

Any help out there? Thank you.
