Craft stores like Michael's sell decals and you can also search the web, but finding what you want in a stock decal pattern is the problem. The largest wet transfer decals commonly available are only about 8-1/2" wide because the clear, wet transfer paper only comes that wide. You might have better luck finding long, narrow decals for corners. You can have your design printed with a color copier or your computer printer but plan for some wasted stock learning to use your printer for this and the transfer paper is expensive.

The designs printed on colored plastic transfer materials, like signmakers use will leave a raised edge and you might not be happy with this on your table top.

Stencilling is certainly something that you can do. Again, you want to check your local craft stores to see what they have or can get. It sounds like you want a fairly large area done and, again, you will have a learning curve on doing the work. It's not difficult, there are just thing for you to learn about doing the process. The good news is that paint and brushes for stenciling are fairly cheap. You can get some tempered Masonite and have it cut to usable sized for your practice pieces pretty cheaply also. Your local craft store should be able to guide you and if you don't get good vibes from them, go to another store.
