Kitchen Faucet gives Hot Water Only

Here's one for an expert. It was unusually cold last night (single digits). The single-handle kitchen faucet this morning had NO water at first. By the late morning, it gave out HOT water only and the handle in the coldest position, had NO water at all. Now, in the late afternoon, it works as it should.

All the other faucets in the house work as they should.

What to do?
