Well I'm not Bob Vila, and I'm not sure he even looks at this site.
Question is why do you want to strip them? If you sand, you can stain them darker with a gel stain. If they are water stained, you can do that or you can remove the dark water staining about as you outlined, plus maybe some bleach.
I have refinished oak cabinets that were looking very dry by sanding and coating with a latex finish like Varathane's Diamond Finish. It is easy to use; it takes three coats but they dry fast and you can do three in a day for a small area.
Blasting MAY work, and it also may destroy the surface. I don't recommend it.
