Carpet repair Posted by Kragh Lillethorup on January 12th, 2004 06:36 PM In reply to carpet patching by Carpet Doctor on January 11th, 2000 10:36 AM [Go to top of thread]
When carpet was laid in my log cabin,it was laid around a 4ft. x 4ft. area ocupied by the fireproof base for a wood burning stove. I removed the stove. I have the original carpet remnants....more than enough to cover the area.I do not have any of the carpet underlayment. I think I can do this myself. I can buy some of the underlayment material, and the tape for the seams. The difference in color from the old to the new, is not important, this is a log cabin, remember? The edges of the carpet on the floor, are ravelled,It is a closed loop short pile variegated color carpet.I need to have clean cuts on both the patch and the old carpet, and a good method to put the cut edges together. How to?
