The word "permanent" on the marker just means "waterproof", really. Get some denatured alcohol in the drug department of any "Big Box" store or drugstore. Put some of the alcohol on a clean, white rag and then put the rag on the mark. You want to use a blotting type action to get the marker material into the rag. Rubbing the mark with the alcohol will smear the mark around, at least at first. If your painted wall was freshly painted, you might have some trouble removing some of the paint but if the paint has been there a while, you should have no trouble. There probably will be no need to think of repainting.
