substance to waterproof tile and grout

Posted by Gary C on January 14th, 2004 09:08 AM

I am looking for a product that is used to seal and waterproof both tile and grout. I saw a program (not an infommercial!) where such a product was used in a shower. First the tile and grout were cleaned to remove any dirt and soap scum. Then, this liquid product was applied to the tile and grout, and then rubbed off, similar to how you'd wax a car. It waterproofed the tile and grout, so that water wouldn't stay on the tile, and instead would just run down to the bottom of the wall or into the tub. The host of the program said it would normally last about two or three months before it would need to be reapplied.

I have not been able to locate such a product. The only thing I've seen are grout sealers, but apparently the product from the program was different, being used on both the tile and grout...more like a car wax or polish. If anyone can identify it, please post. Thanks!
