I am also in the process of buying a new furnance and Ac unit. I would not buy a Carrier for anything. I made that huge mistake in my last home. Carrier did not back it's product!!!! I had a 2 and a 1/2 year old Ac unit go out. The compressor was shot in that short of time. I had to pay another $700 to have one replaced. When I called Carrier and told them I would report them to the Better Business Bureau the representative was rude and said who cares. I live in Il. and we use Ac for a few summer months. It's not like it runs all year long. You better check and double check a Carrier warranty. It is pretty pathetic. I have been talking to furnance people and Carrier is not high on their list. Do not talk to sales people talk to people that have to work on the units. Right now I am checking out a unit called Air Ease. I have already checked on Lennox.Trane is supposed to be good but parts are more difficult to obtain. Maybe some of this information will help. Stay away from Carrier, but that is my opinion.
