We bought a 1927 crafstman with mostly carpeted floors. The bedrooms, kitchen and entry way are all hardwood and they are beautiful. I cut up some of the carpet to look at the wood underneath and it is in ok shape. Our goal is to refinish them. My questions: what would be the next step after tearing up the carpet? Some of the wood has little gaps between planks...how would I deal with that? should I sand the floors? I really need some help. thanks.
