Have oak flooring in kitchen and breakfast rooms that we would like to replace with tile. The recommended cutting and prising of the wood presents a messy and possibly damaging effect to the concrete slab. Is it possible to rough surface the hardwood and tile over it or use one-quarter inch plywood or concrete backerboard glued or nailed over the hardwood? The hardwood is 3-inch strips with a waxed surface.
