I have a two story house. Two upstairs bathrooms one at the front of the house the other at the rear. The toilet at the rear makes a terrible noise when flushed. It is very noticeable in the living room below. As far as I can determine the waste pipe ftom this toilet goes across the room under the floor to the main down pipe in a cavity wall approx 10ft away. Just putting an ear to the wall the noise certainly seems to be in the vertical section of pipe.Could this problem be due to inadequate venting? If so where could I place another vent? I could remove a portion of drywall and expose the vertical pipe. Would a cheater vent work. I should add that there is also noise when the bathroom sink, bath tub and shower are used.
