Painting terra cotta

Donna, the paint will not stay on the tile for very long, particularly outside. But there is a better and happy solution. You might check home centers and tile stores for prebroken tile to buy. Many stores sell or give their broken tiles away and you can ask them to call you when they get enough to make your trip to pick them up worthwhile. Another way to handle this is to paint the terra cotta with enamel paint. That will not last forever but it will last a long time.

Don't forget to have your daughter paint a pot or two for a house for your local toad. Bury the pot on it's side and with about an inch in the ground. The toads like the security of the pot and help you by eating some bugs. You want to put the toad house in an outdoor bed area.
