I have planted trees next to my house to reduce road noise. Double glazing certainly reduces noise in European houses but is expensive here in Australia. Much of the sound comes through windows. Maybe heavy drapes or exterior metal or wooden shutters could do the trick. Building firms specialise in wall and roof materials to reduce noise. This is a very serious health problem.
