Garage Gable Venting

I have a detached one-car garage(uninsulated and unheated,that I don't keep a car in)that has a gable vent on each end. My plans are to vinyl side the thing and I want to know if it is worth it to vinyl around and leave the gable vent openings or would it be easier and more cost wise to just cover over the openings if they are really not necessary. What do you think?
