bathroom exhaust vent/ causing ice on roof

Posted by pat on January 21st, 2004 07:59 AM

We have a 2 yr. old double wide mobile home. The one problem we have found is the bathroom exhaust vents on the roof are not extended upward enough, causing ice to form on the roof because the heat coming from the vents melts the snow surrounding them on the roof, and even has caused water/slush to sit under the ice. The warm air comes from the sides of these 8" square vents, not thru a pvc pipe, which would be easy to remedy with a longer pvc pipe extension. Does anyone know if anything exists that we could buy to fix the problem without tearing out the existing vents? Some kind of an extention? Please help!!!
