This all depends on what kind of system was used. Keep in mind that there are different systems put on houses. For example one coat systems used on wood framed houses will probably move along with the wood frame.More than likely hair linecracks will appear, this is not caused by faulty products or improper application. Most coats of synthetic stucco are only one eights of an inch thick! This will not keep your wood framed house from expanding contracting and all the other good stuff that most home builders fail to let customers know. No stucco is going to keep your from moving. Now if you are talking EIFS sytems that is a whole different ball game. If prpoer application was used on this type of system little or no cracking appear on this system.Be sure and ask a lot of questions, most builders are not going to tell you anything if you do not ask! It also does not matter what brand of stucco is on a house hairline cracks will occur in places where lack of control joint not used, this is not a type of improper application a lot of times customers do not want 12 foot control joint running up and down their Santa Fe type house. This where people are misinformed. Control joints are used to control cracking if any does occur so that it may run along the control joint. Also most windows lack this type of application. The opening and shutting of windows will cause cracking along the seal of the outter windows. Make sure the house was properly built before purchasing, not just if Dryvit is on the house. Best of luck!
