Usually, I am just lurking on here, picking up loads of good advice. But, I can add 2 cents to this one!
We, too, have a Sears garage door opener with a remote. The ding-dang remote quits working about once every other month. My hubby re-programs like clockwork and it works just fine again... for awhile.
Needless to say, our next one WON'T be a Sears, but til then, memorize the reprogram steps, they aren't hard after the first couple of times . Don't waste batteries til you do this first, IMHO, we already tried that. Good luck.
