very interesting...we have same problem...it occurs in two distinct spots in the house...neither one is near a furnace or any type of drain or vent pipe...we are completely puzzled...seems to happen only in winter...i'm wondering if heavy cold air on vent pipes doesn't allow warmer (smelly air) to escape.
