yes Joann you can have the tops relaminated but only if the original laminate is tight and sound. I replaced the tops in my home over 10 yrs. ago they are holding up beautifully. You can use 80 grit paper on your belt sander to rough up the old laminate so the new contact cement will have a good grip. You could even attach some 1/4" mohagany- luan plywood to the roughed-up surface if you are unsure of the old surface condition, just dont be stingy with the contact cement. the plywood makes a really nice flat surface for the laminate. good luck!
